Fuji Q Platinum
Whenever you make a list of best HVLP paint sprayer, Fuji Q5 Platinum is bound to be at the top five. The top of the line from Fuji is the Q Platinum series from Fuji, ‘Q’ stands for quiet, as opposed to the Mini-Mite series, the Q5 is very quiet. It has 5 fan turbine that produces 9.5 PSI of air pressure, thus achieving the finest atomization and the best finish to a paint job. It is a gravity/siphon-feed type gun. Its extra pressure will allow you to use viscous pain like latex albeit with less thinning. The model is featured with a T70 gun and a 1000 cc cup. The turbine fans have 5 stage motor with 5 fans.
Q5 Difference
The Q5 system is different from the other two in the Q Platinum series, Q3, and Q4. The Q5 has a variable speed control dial that will let the user adjust the air pressure by adjusting the motor speed. This level of control will give you the superb atomization coating and perfect finish that you desire. The overspray is also reduced amply. The pressure is also higher with the Q5.
Noise Level
It has a sound level of 60-65 dba depending on the distance from the turbine. It’s very quiet even when executed at full speed. The Q Platinum series has a heat dissipation chamber for the built-up heat. The surface has 60 conveniently placed holes to prevent hissing sounds from the heat dissipation. The Fuji Q5 Platinum is a superb HVLP sprayer that is guaranteed to suit your painting needs.

Fuji Mini Mite
Fuji’s Mini-Mite series is the strong contender with the Q Platinum series, both sport 3 great product each with 5 stage, 4 stage and 3 stage turbine and different air pressure. The only things the Mini Mites lack are the noise reduction technology of Q platinum. The Fuji Mini Mite 4 is the mid-range product (in terms of price) of the Mini Mite series, with a 4 stage turbine that produces 9 PSI of air pressure that allows very fine atomization and great finish for any type of paint with viscosity like latex, lacquer, sealer, cellulose, acrylics, synthetics or water-based, you name it. Like the Q5, it is a Gravity/ Bottom (Siphon) Feed type HVLP spray gun. It has a T70 gun with a 1000 cc cup capacity that allows longer hours of painting. The model has 25 feet Hi-Flex hose with quick connect, 6 feet whip hose, wet film gauge, 19 pieces of spray gun cleaning and maintenance kit along with lubricant, booklet, turbine filter and much more. The turbine is a 4 stage motor with 4 fans.
4 Stage or 5 Stage Turbine
The 4 stage fan means it’s a little bit slower and less pressure than the Q5 and the Mini Mite 5, but not too much, you can still use any kind of paint with it. The 4 stage motor spins faster than the 5, which means there will be slightly more wear and tear and breakdown time.
Noise Reduction
Although the Mini Mite doesn’t have the noise reduction technology built-in like the Q Platinum series, it has a Noise reduction cover (NRC) to reduce noise. There is also a rear entrance for ambient air to remove direct sound paths, specially designed finger slots are used to draw air in. There is also a heat dissipation chamber with the 60 holes in the surface area to remove hissing noise. Then there is the air control valve, viscosity cup, and many other things included in the package. It’s great for any type of paint and will surely be of great help to you. The noise won’t bother you too much, and if you have the noise reduction covers, it’s all set to go.

Comparisons of the Different Systems
Tan Machine vs Conventions HVLP Machines
Fuji Spray Tan Machine is obviously designed and developed for specifically tanning purposes only. The three (3) most important factor of a Tan Sprayer are:
- Low Pressure
- High volume spay and

Q: How low pressure is the heights for a tanning machine?
Ans: The maximum recommended pressure for a tanning machine is 4.5 PSI. But depending on person to person you may not feel any pinch even at 8-10 PSI.

Soft even spray is the primary responsibility of the gun. So, the tan machines come with the turbine and the gun as a set and they complement each other and give you a nice smooth finish.

FAQ
Q: What is the best HVLP spray system?
Ans: Fuji Q series and the Fiji Mini Mite series are the best HVLP spray system out there, both in terms of performance and price. The slight difference between the “Q” series and the “Mini Mite” series is explained above. If you can ignore the noise level the Fuji Mini Mite 4 is the best of the lot. The best part is the Fuji customer service – they are outstanding.
Q: What is the difference between HVLP and conventional spray guns?
Ans: Conventional spray guns use high pressure and lot of air to spray the paint on a surface. The high pressure turns the paint into a finely atomized mist, giving you a thinner, finer application. The particles of the paint spray vary in size and speed. This results in more overspray and wastage.
HVLP spray guns spray a lot of paint at a time a low pressure, producing thicker coats with their large droplet. But the main advantage is less overspray and wastage. So, HVLP sprayer is more efficient and more cost-efficient in terms of less paint wasted. But HVLP takes longer to pain.
